"BREAKING DAWN" TO BE TWO FILMS

Let the Hallelujah chorus begin!  It looks like the suits at Summit Entertainment have finally made some decisions on how and when to shoot "Breaking Dawn".  Deadline.com reported the following earlier today:

Filming on the back-to-back movies would begin in mid-October, and Summit Entertainment is looking at "high-end" directors. Breaking Dawn is the longest in Stephenie Meyer's 4-book series lengthwise and it's the most graphic -- presenting birth, attempted murder, death, and of course vampire bites.

I find the comment of "high-end" directors very interesting.  For some reason, names like James Cameron and Peter Jackson instantly come to mind.  While there is no official press release from Summit as of yet, it's nice to hear that something is moving along.  Those actors can't stay young forever, after all!

What do you think about this news?

Are you a fan of the two-film format or would you prefer only one epic-length film?

Who are your guesses for director?

Hmmmm.  I would want to see how it would come out if Guillermo del Toro directed it. Sure there is not enough creatures really, but her transformation and ultimate birth, and then all the new vampires and their looks, would be quite surreal if del Toro did it. Maybe he is a bit much for this but, wishful thinking never killed anyone.

Breaking Dawn was almost as long as War and Peace! But War and Peace is another animal entirely. Probably take two years to read that. Have it and still never picked it up it's so overwhelming.

I'm excited for two films! Now they won't have to cut out as much.

I'm fine with the idea of two films. I wouldn't mind them having Chris back for one of them.

And I'm not surprised they decided to do it this way, they know drawing it out will make more money for them.
