OBS staff member Molly has brought us our weekly R&R of ‘Being Human’
Episode 1.5
Recap: “No one gets left behind” is Herrick’s slogan for the world-conquering vampire committee, who happen to be recruiting, and the recruits are like starved and scared rats or lab mice or something. George and Annie help Mitchell escape Herrick, and Lauren saves them by staking a vamp, and Herrick is out for blood.
Mitchell: Mitchell is working for Herrick by scouting out dying patients to bring over to the vampire side. He meets an old girlfriend (who’s not a vamp) at the hospital and he wants her to be a vampire. She is completely against the idea of her and others being vampires. Mitchell backs out of Herrick’s plan to take over the world because of creative differences, pun definitely intended. Lauren wants Mitchell to kill her because she is worried about ending up like Herrick and the rest. He does. And he also gets staked by Herrick.

Annie: Annie is out to haunt Owen until her confesses he killed her. George convinces Owen to go to the apartment. He is able to see Annie and all but has a heart attack. “Confessssss.” His balls go back to their original place, and starts insulting her, which puts him on the higher ground. Since scaring Owen didn’t quite go as planned, Annie sets her sights on Owen’s girlfriend (her name is Janey, by they way). “Take Me Out” plays a decent amount while the sight of Annie causes Janey to faint. She tells Janey that it was Owen who killed her. Wow. Owen is a jerk. He was cheating on Annie with Janey. And he’s again insulting Annie. This makes Annie depressed and lifeless, no pun intended. She joins George in his quest to save Mitchell. Owen comes back to the apartment and is still being a dick (but he sure is cute, though). Annie lets him know that not only ghosts exist and that she’s got a werewolf and vampire on her side. She threatens him that she’ll always be after him and that she can end him, and he finally is terrified. And paranoid, which leads him to confess. Annie’s Death Door appears, and Mitchell is staked. Does she stay or does she go?
George: George is still dating Nina. And he has a smashing arse. Mitchell’s old girlfriend asks George for help against the vampires. George is on a mission to save Mitchell. George is very upset about Annie’s door of death.
Another great episode! Kinda curious, though – where’s George? The other two main characters have a lot of TV time, but George has been pretty secondary lately. That’s about all that’s bothering me right now. There’s going to be a second season, so I assume that Mitchell, Annie, and George all survive the final episode. Lauren definitely got brownie points for her decision at the end of her life. Not that she wanted to die, but that she didn’t want to be a brainless killing machine. Speaking of, WTF, Herrick? Gone crazy, much?
Do you want to see more George in episode six and the next season? What happens to the door if Annie doesn’t go through it? Or do you think the door was meant for Mitchell?
