"For you I bleed myself dry"

« on: August 15, 2009, 08:41:06 PM »

OBS Staff member Molly has given us a sweet treat, she has reviewed the last 3 episodes of Being Human.

“Being Human is a British television supernatural drama-comedy series, broadcast on BBC Three. It stars Lenora Crichlow, Russell Tovey and Aidan Turner as three apparent twenty-something characters sharing a house in Bristol, trying to live a normal social life, despite being a ghost, a werewolf and a vampire.”

Episode 1– Mitchell (a vampire) and George (a werewolf) move into an apartment in order to act like normal human beings (Being Human, get it?). Annie (a ghost) is still in the apartment. Mitchell turns Lauren into a vampire, Annie wants to see her fiancé, Owen, when he comes to check about the sink, and George doesn’t have a safe place to transform.

Episode 2 – George meets Tully. He tries to help George out by making his transformations more manageable with advice such as transform in the woods and carry a sack of clothes so you have something to wear home. (He also gives more practical advice about getting laid.) But Tully gets a little aggressive with Annie, and Mitchell tells him to get out. George defends him, but after finding out it was Tully who gave him his furry little problem, he changes his mind, hurts Tully’s feelings (all he wanted was family, after all), and Tully kills himself. Lauren sends Mitchell a tape of her killing a man, which is kind of like vamporn, and it arouses his blood lust.

Episode 3 – The boys introduce Annie to Gilbert, another ghost. He’s been hanging around the world for a couple decades because he wants to, he says, but really he just hasn’t completed some goal. He teaches Annie to search for why she’s still here. There’s also some Gilbert fun, which is actually only fun to Gilbert. In the end, Annie learns that it was Owen who killed her out of jealousy, and Gil learns that he loves Annie. A magic door of death appears and Gil is taken to the other side. All the while, Mitchell is trying to help Lauren wean herself from human blood, and George is getting his sex on.

There’s also an ongoing plot between Mitchell and Herrick (another vampire – and the one who turned Mitchell, at that). Herrick thinks that trying to live like a human is stupid and pointless because it’s so much better being a vampire, and he thinks people should either be vampires or food.

Come back soon, Molly will be being reviewing/recapping the rest of the season, right here on OBS! Also check the OBS FORUMS for discussions on Being Human, right HERE!!!!

I have never heard of this TV show before OBS, and by this recap I think I will check it out!

Do you watch Being Human if so, what do you think?

I watched two episodes last night and it was interesting to say the least. I'm intrigued enough to want to find it online and watch the whole season.
British television is always interesting!
