Melissa Marr
Wicked Lovely Series - 1: Wicked Lovely

Summary
Rule #3: Don’t stare at invisible faeries. Aislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in the mortal world. Aislinn fears their cruelty—especially if they learn of her Sight—and wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.

Rule #2: Don’t speak to invisible faeries. Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.

Rule #1: Don’t ever attract their attention. But it’s too late. Keenan is the Summer King who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any cost—regardless of her plans or desires.

Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything. Faery intrigue, mortal love, and the clash of ancient rules and modern expectations swirl together in this 21st century faery tale.

Review
This book definitely gives great insight to the fantasy world of faeries. With each chapter beginning with a quote from other faerie sources it made the book come alive and really makes you think that these "characters" might be closer to reality than fantasy. I have to say this book kept me guessing until the very end. Aislinn's ability to see the faeries and her strength to uphold the rules, given to her by her grandmother, made her character really strong.

The relationship between Aislinn and Seth was really great to read as they fell in love without ever realizing it. It was the strength of their realtionship that was able to keep Aislinn grounded when the confusing world of faeries threatened to take her.

The way that Marr wrote this novel was very interesting. As a reader you see the plot unravel from many different views but also stay as a third party, giving you the chance to make assumptions about and alliances with the characters. I was truly torn about the main love triangle up until the very end. I wanted to see Aislinn become the Summer Queen and rule with Keenan, the viviacious and handsome faerie, but also wanted her to end up with her chosen love, mortal and extremely sensual Seth.

This book has opened my eyes to this dangerous but beautiful world of faeries and I look forward to reading the rest of the series with these characters.

I love love loved this book. Melissa Marr was so descriptive of the faerie world. It's a page turner and has some great plot twists.

I LOVED this book! I never read anything about Faeries before (to be honest I thought it would be dumb) but NOPE! The FEY are badarse!

Melissa did a most excellent job with creating this world and developing these interesting characters! And yes the plot twists are nuts! Can't wait for Radiant Shadows
