Brought to you by OBS staff member Annabell Cadiz

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2
Rating: PG-13 for some sequences of intense action violence and frightening images.

Note: Watched the movie in 3D at IMAX and was SPECTACULAR!!!

Warning: Contains a few spoilers!

Review: The entire theater is silent. You can barely hear the person next to you breathing as the screen lights up and the movie begins. Tears spring to everyone’s eyes, laughter echoes, and shouts of triumph resonate as the film progresses with a heart pounding pace. The end to one of the greatest selling series of all time went out with a phenomenal thunderous bang! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 delivers a deep and bittersweet finale to a series that defined an entire generation of children who have now grown to adults.

Harry was first introduced to the world in 2001. A small boy of eleven who had been left orphaned and having the horrible misfortune of being stuck living with his unloving aunt and uncle, has now grown up into a seventeen year old man helping to save the world from the darkness of Voldemort who threatens to destroy everything good and pure.

Even among the dark and intense action taking place throughout the entire movie, the audience never looses track of Harry and who he really is-- a brave and kind boy standing up for what he cherishes the most. Ron, Hermonie, and Neville manage to spark light humorous moments throughout the trouble and heartache they encounter. One of my favorite scenes was Ron threatening to kill Harry if they die helping to save Draco.

The effects alone are a great enough reason to watch the movie: the roller-coaster ride down the Gringotts vaults, Harry, Ron, and Hermonie riding on a dragon to escape, the bright and powerful magic of wands dancing as all of Hogwarts takes up arms to fight against the scores Death Eaters swarming all around them, and of course, the final showdown between Harry and Voldemort.

The emotions are raw and deep, each of the actors have grown through each movie and you can feel their vulnerability as well as their courage and love as the film progresses to the end.

One of the most moving parts is when Harry pours Snape’s memory into the Pensieve and learns the real truth of who Snape really was and just how much Snape loved him. Harry fully realizes how many have given their lives to protect him and allows that to give him the courage necessary to march into the Forbidden Forest to face Voldemort alone.

The journey from eleven year old boy wizard to seventeen year old hero has been one filled with great tragedy and even greater love. The Boy-Who-Lived ends his epic battle in many ways as when he began, with friends at his side and a determination to keep hope and peace alive even if the cost is his own life.

In the wonderful and wise words of Dumbledore: “Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love."

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is one of the best and moving endings to a series I have ever seen. Closing Harry, Ron, and Hermonie’s story perfectly and beautifully.

Running Time: 130 minutes (2 hrs. 10 mins.)
Director: David Yates
My Rating: 10/10 stars!!

OMG!!! I absolutely loved it! It was beautifully done and I'm so sad it's actually over. I laughed, I cried, I clapped, and I cheered! I'll be seeing it again and again... Harry you will live on in our lives forever!

I cried more the 2nd time I saw than the first time. And I cried in different parts.
It was an amazing way to end the series. And I'm so glad they did "19 Years Later" so that we could have some closure.

They wrapped up loose ends, they touched on just about everything, they gave us a GREAT story.

Thank you JK Rowling.
Thank you David Yates.
Thank you Warner Brothers.

I absolutely LOVED it!  I saw it in 3D and it was amazing!   My theater experience was much the same with cheers when the first HP images appeared on the screen and much applause when Mrs. Weasley goes after Bellatrix.  Molly Weasley became Super-Mom in that moment.

I was soooooooo glad that they did the scene of Harry seeing Snape's memories in the pensieve.  One of my gripes about the last few films was how they left out Snape's backstory.  Well done!!

I was virtually on the edge of my seat the entire time.  I barely touched my popcorn or my drink because I was so into the movie.

I will definitely be going to see it again!!

There was a ton of cheering and clapping in the theater and sniffling. Espeically in the scenes when Snape's past gets revealed. I LOVED how much more Neville was apart of the film. He did AWESOME in the final movie. One of the best scenes is when he kills Voldemort's snake to save Ron and Hermonie. I was proud of him when he stood up to Voldemort.

@Angie: I also was happy they put in the 19 years later. I would have been really upset if they would have fast forward through it.

@Amanda: TOTALLY LOVED when Molly goes after Bellatrix! She kicked butt!!! The movie theater erupted in cheers at that. And I was pretty much on the edge of my seat from the moment the movie started, especially when Harry is walking through the Forbidden Forest to face Voldemort. My niece was like you. She barely touched her popcorn or soda. She was as glued as the rest of us to the movie lol.

And I for sure MUST see it again again!! It was AMAZING!!

Oh my gosh, me either!!

I loved how they did Snape's memories, I thought it was perfect. I also absolutely loved how when Snape was addressing the school the one student that stepped forward was Harry! I know that's not how it happened in the books, but I thought it was a brilliant way to keep the story moving.

AGREED!!! Another powerful moment was when Hermione and Ron realize Harry must sacrifice himself for the greater good.

It was so action packed that I feel I might have missed some parts.
I loved watching Mrs Weasley kick Bellatrix's ass. I plan to see it again next week.

For the boys and I, this marks the end of something we began years ago. We read and discussed all the books and we saw all the movies together. I'm so glad we shared this for 10 years.

I was really happy Snape's memories finally played the role they deserved to have. Snape was one of the best written characters in the books and I don't think he got as much screen time as he deserved. But Alec Rickman (Snape) did an amazing job in the final movie! And I really loved when Harry stepped forward as well! I also liked when everyone moved in around him to stand with him. Such a moving moment.

YES!!! That moment made me cry along with Hermonie. Especially when she starts crying and wants to go with him so he doesn't have to go alone *tears* The movie was really action packed, I think thats why its worth seeing twice so you can catch things that you may have missed in the excitment.

When Mrs. Weasley and Bellatrix fight was one of the best moments of the film "Not my daughter YOU BITCH!" AWESOME!!!

Awwe, its sweet you and the boys got to share the series together =) My niece is 9 and has been getting into Harry Potter. She's seen a couple of them but not all but she still wanted to see the last one. When we walked out she proudly proclaimed: "That was WAAAAY better than Transformers! Harry Potter rocks!!" LOL
