Red: Werewolf Hunter
SyFy Original Movie

“The modern-day descendant of Little Red Riding Hood brings her fiancé home to meet her family and reveal their occupation as werewolf hunters, but after he is bitten by a werewolf, she must protect him from her own family.” (from imdb.com)

I was really excited for this movie. Werewolves + Felicia Day? Awesome. But Werewolves + Felicia Day + SyFy meant that I was wary. And I was right to be. With a premise that could have been a great movie in the hands of a decent writer turned into just another terrible B (or even C) horror flick.

The acting was only decent, but I blame that primarily on the terrible writing. Even the best actor can only do such much with canned dialog. On top of that, a completely unexplainable change in the personality of one of the characters (that resulted in their death) left me thinking that the writer wrote everything in a sitting or two, and didn’t bother to go back to edit at all.

The CG was better than most of the SyFy movies, and the effects were better than I was expecting. There was a little twist at the end which was a nice, but it didn’t make up for an all-around bad plot.

Running Time: 2 hours

Rating: 4/10 stars
