Hmm. A funny Comic Book movie? Recent trends have made dark, more serious adaptations the norm, so a lot of people questioned one that was trying to be a comedy. Seth Rogan not only wrote, but starred in it, which was off-putting to some people. He’s at his best when he plays slackers turned heroes, and that’s what he does here—but with badass cars. I thought it was fantastic. It’s funny, and it has plenty of action, so don’t worry about not getting your fill. Seriously, if they gave an award for highest collateral damage/death toll, this movie would definitely win (it’s not gory, but when a steam roller lands on a guy, you know he’s not getting up).
Rogan shares the screen with Jay Chou, who plays Kato, is the real action star of the movie. Kato builds the cars, the guns, and inspires Reid to actually
do something. So if you’re avoiding this movie because of Rogan, just know that he doesn’t hog the spotlight.
I saw it in 3D, but I actually spent most of the movie without glasses on. It wasn’t shot in 3D, and only some of the fight scenes were upgraded.
