OBS staff member Tori has brought us our weekly R&R of ‘Medium’

The show opens with the Bridgette and Marie watching "Night of the Living Dead", which is being run on one of their local TV stations in marathon fashion for Halloween.  Bridgette has brought the science class pet, a tarantula named Miss Scarlett, which is terrifying Ariel by being housed in the bathroom.

Lee calls about a new case and he needs Allison's help.  Fade to a funeral home where Bobbi Catallano, the wonderful Aida Turturro from Soprano's fame, is talking about her missing father.

Miss Scarlett dies and Bridgette is horrified that she may have killed her by feeding the tarantula candy!  Later she is certain that Miss Scarlett has come back to haunt her.

Allison is dreaming and she is the blonde Barb, in the movie, "Night of the Living Dead" (clever device that, using the black and white film).  She is in a cemetery and her "brother" is fighting with a zombie to save her, but the zombie kills him.  She runs to a nearby house and see's someone outside.  She discovers he is also one of the undead and escapes inside. It breaks the transom glass and grabs her arm.. Allison awakens screaming with bloody scratches on her arm.  Joe, (still the doubting Thomas after all this time HA), is convinced she scratched herself.

Lee takes Allison to a cemetery where the body of the missing undertaker, Carl Catallano is found in a grave.  She sees a man in the distance that resembles the zombie from her dream.  He is dragging himself towards her when blood pours from his mouth.  She thinks he killed Carl.

Allison dreams again and she is still in the house.  She hears the sound of hammering and discovers a man named Dale Cosgrove, (Joe in her dream), who says he saved her from the zombie.  He is trying to nail up the house.  The girls appear; coming down the stairs. Alli and Ariel go to the basement and discover Carl's body there.  He wakes and bites her on the leg; she wakes screaming again.  After a visit to the hospital the doctor tells Joe her injury is probably psychologically/psychosomatic bruising.  The doctor gives her sleeping pills to help.  She and Joe decide to share keeping watch over her.

She dreams again and she is in the basement being attacked by Carl.  She stabs him with the shovel.  Meanwhile zombies are breaking in upstairs; she shuts herself in the basement and wakes up in Joe's arms screaming, "I don't want to die".  She moves into the den to watch TV and on comes the, "Night of the Living Dead" show again (hilarious).

She dreams again and see's a wanted poster of herself.  She has poisoned all these people and made them "zombies".  Lee and Devallos put her in the back of a truck where she is attacked by Joe and the girls in zombie mode.  She runs from them and burns her arm on a piece of equipment.  Allison wakes up and finds she is not dead but has a bad burn on her arm like in the dream.  She goes to see Bobbi Catallano and sees chemical jars full of embalming fluid, which is composed of ethanol, methanol, and formaldehyde.
She also sees a burn on Bobbi's arm.

Flash to Bridgette taking out the trash and seeing the container that had been Miss Scarlett's home.  She sees a pile of eggs and the ghost of the tarantula crawling down a hole.

Edgar Kriepke is released from jail as they figure out he didn't commit the murder of Carl.
He had been taking a drug called "wet", which is what caused him to bleed from the mouth.

Devallos and Lee ask Bobbi to come in for some more questions about her father's death.  They want to know why she has ordered 3 times the normal amount of embalming fluid, and why her finances are in such trouble.  She sputters helplessly and is taken away.

Fade to Halloween night at the Dubois household.  Joe dressed as a nerd, Allison as a truly impressive witch, Bridgette as a zombie and even Ariel decides to participate if they won't go anywhere she would be recognized.

This show never fails to entertain.  Loved the "Night of the Living Dead" inclusion.  The children are always a great addition to the show.  There seems to be more dry humor in the series this year.  I'm still wondering though, what is going on with Joe's job?  What has happened to Ariel's social life?  Shouldn't Marie's talent as a clarinetist be a part of the show now?

Interesting side note:  for those that don't know this, I just discovered there is a real Allison Dubois. She is actually a consultant on the show.  She consults with her local DA and police force to help with crime.
