Never Ceese by Sue Dent
Chapter 1 by Dawn

In this Chapter, we are in the mind of a wolf. We see, hear and smell from the wolf's perspective. As the wolf changes into a human, it is described to us in great detail. It is a painful experience and it's been quite a while since the last time the wolf has transformed. The human struggles to find words but can only cry out in pain.

The wolf has learned much from her mentor Joachim, especially to not spread the curse (of being a wolf).

Questions for consideration:

Were you surprised when the wolf turns out to be female?

What did you think about the description of the transformation?

How does it compare to other Werewolf lore/stories?

Is there something you noticed in this chapter that you'd like to discuss with the book club?

Were you surprised when the wolf turns out to be female?
Actually yes, maybe it's because my first werewolf book was New Moon and I always think of them as masculine type animals, but I guess a werewolf could be any gender.

What did you think about the description of the transformation?
I really liked it. Everything from the theories of transformation to the manipulations of the salts in the blood to the actual description of the transformation was descriptive.

How does it compare to other Werewolf lore/stories?
It's really original and different, but it's also a little early to tell. I like it though.

Is there something you noticed in this chapter that you'd like to discuss with the book club?
Can't think of anything, but i'm sure someone else with point something out.

Were you surprised when the wolf turns out to be female?
Yes, very surprised. I just assumed it would be a male

What did you think about the description of the transformation?
It was very cool to be immersed in being a wolf like that. I really enjoyed the descriptiveness, although it sounded very painful.

How does it compare to other Werewolf lore/stories?
Not sure because this is one of my first werewolf books.

Is there something you noticed in this chapter that you'd like to discuss with the book club?
I wondered if she came from a pack...

Author perspective:

Were you surprised when the wolf turns out to be female?
My editor was surprised but I guess since I already knew, (being the author and all) I wasn't really. I do think it's time we had some female werewolves take the forefront.

What did you think about the description of the transformation?
I actually had a lot more in there initially but my editor pointed out that in some cases less was more. :) So I trimmed it a bit. She was right.

How does it compare to other Werewolf lore/stories?
Well so far it sticks to lore pretty good. Winking

Is there something you noticed in this chapter that you'd like to discuss with the book club?
I particularly enjoy that Bible story weaved in there, the bits of the sermon remembered,  but just because it's one of my favorite stories. What does it have to do with the story I wonder? Probably nothing. LOL

If I can't be Mrs.Cullen, then I'll be Mrs.Gale

Were you surprised when the wolf turns out to be female?
Yes, maybe because werewolves are always men, the strong ones. But I liked it, a different perspective.

What did you think about the description of the transformation?
Werewolf transformations are always cool, hoe they go from one skin to the other. But a painfully process.

How does it compare to other Werewolf lore/stories?
First werewolf book too!

Is there something you noticed in this chapter that you'd like to discuss with the book club?
I want to know more about her, is she the only wolf girl?
