Never Ceese by Sue Dent Chapter 28 by Krystal/Rose
As Cassie wakes up she notices a light from the kitchen. Looking over she sees Richard in front of the refrigerator and admires his appearance. Concerned about Ceese, he questions why she hasn’t talked since they woke. Rodney interjects and says she is just hungry. After a little argument over Rodney’s ability to cook, they all sit down at the table. As Rodney tries to sneak into the seat next to Ceese, Richard challenges him.
Now it’s time for Cassie to do some explaining and as she flips through her grandmother’s notes the others wait. Cassie reads off some of her grandmother’s theories before Richard rudely interrupts her. Angry at the same old theories, Richard demands something new. Cassie adds one new theory to the mix, “two wrongs do make a right.” Richard not happy with this new theory makes some mean remarks and suggests sucking Rodney dry, but Cassie interrupts saying she won’t be bullied. Rodney excuses himself outside. Richard, now a little calmer, pulls out his cigarette case and Cassie tells him to take it outside. Not wanting to go near Rodney, he protests, but Cassie won’t budge.
After Richard leaves, Cassie has a seat next to Ceese. Worried about Richard’s temper, Cassie asks how he can possibly help Ceese. She replies that she doesn’t believe he can, but that Penny said he could and she trusts her. After a short silence Ceese mentions that Penny speaks to her, but Cassie shrugs it off as just memories; Grandmother is gone. Denying this, Ceese says that it’s not true, that Penny speaks to her the same way she did before and that her father is alive as well. She says that Penny is special just like Cassie; she can project her thoughts to others. When Cassie asks her not to mention it anymore she hears something. Cassie says it was Ceese’s doing, but Ceese says it’s Penny. She says Penny is worried what Ceese might do to help Richard, stating that she’d do anything for him. When Cassie asks why, Ceese replies that she doesn’t want to talk about it anymore.

Never Ceese by Sue Dent Chapter 29 by Krystal/Rose
Rodney sipping his beer tries to ignore Richard, but it was only a matter of time before he started pushing Richard’s buttons. He asks how long Richard intends on staying at Cassie’s before suggesting that Richard leave. Richard remarks that he doesn’t want to be there, but won’t elaborate, so Rodney pushes him by mentioning Richard’s closeness to Ceese and his lack of ability to be intimate. Unable to handle Rodney’s annoyance any longer, Richard grabs Rodney and lifts him up by the collar. Richard clarifies that he neither wants Ceese nor anyone else for that matter, and it’s not something he can control. Before ending their conversation Richard ‘convinces’ Rodney that he will never let Ceese kiss him again by threatening to suck Rodney dry. After some more hurtful words about Richard’s lack of emotions, Richard jumps over the balcony railing and takes off just as Cassie comes in.
Freaking out, Rodney tells Cassie that Richard jumped, but Ceese interrupts and clarifies that he levitated and they are going hunting. Cassie blames Rodney for Richard’s abrupt exit and demands to know what he said to him. After Rodney explains the confrontation, Cassie gets on his case, telling him that Richard can’t have those kinds of emotions. Rodney looks at Cassie and wonders if she is upset that Richard seems to care for Ceese, despite what she says. Cassie jokes about her dating a vampire, but Rodney says why not; he could feel that way about Ceese, not that he does. Cassie suggests they not get so personal about Richard and Ceese and steps back inside from the balcony.
Questions for consideration:
Why do you think Richard attacked Rodney over Ceese? Do you think he likes her or is just being fatherly?
Do you think Rodney is going to be able to stay away from Ceese like Richard commands?

Never Ceese by Sue Dent Chapter 30 by Krystal/Rose
Clayton Henderson, unlike Richard and Ceese, didn’t mind having a curse that would allow him to live forever. For this reason, Richard and Ceese were exactly what he wanted; their blood to be exact. Sitting at his computer now, he looked through Cassie’s notes which Rodney had sent him, but realized that some must be missing.
Meanwhile, Cassie was scrolling through her own notes at the apartment. As she looked through them she came to a statement that was the most baffling of all her investigations, “two wrongs make it right.” After Richard and Ceese return home, Cassie joins Ceese at the kitchen table and they discuss Penny and the necklace she gave Ceese. When they are done, Ceese heads toward the bedroom and Richard follows. Returning to her notes Cassie proceeds to put Penny’s diary away when a necklace sent to her by Penny falls to the floor.
Remembering something, Cassie opens the diary to a part that spoke of two vampires who wished to be mortal again. One evening the vampire duo headed to a cemetery chapel and Penny describes every agonizing step they took on consecrated ground with extreme detail of the pain. Looking back at the cross, she finally understands the significance of the story.
Going to her room, she opens the door and sees movement from under the bed. Heading to where Richard was, she dangled the cross in front of him, explaining that they need to talk. He agrees and they head to the bathroom, Cassie once again pulls the cross up and guesses that it belongs to him. Richard feigns ignorance and Cassie proclaims that it was Penny and Richard in the story and her curse was broken while his was not. Richard admits that Cassie is correct, but there is no proof as to why it worked for Penny and not for him. Wanting to know more, Cassie asks if it was as painful as Penny had described it to be and he replies that dying would have been less painful, he’s only happy Penny did not suffer in vain.
After some deep conversation, Richard opens the bathroom door to find Ceese, who startled at seeing Cassie, runs out toward the kitchen. When the two catch up to her she is on her knees in front of a cluster of flowering wolfsbane. The sudden appearance of everyone in the room had Rodney jumping out of bed and Richard points at the wolfsbane and orders Rodney to get rid of it, which he does. Gathering back together they question who would have done that and Kyle is named as the culprit. Ceese informs that he came for a book and Cassie darts to the desk to check and mentions it’s absent. Angry, Richard blames everyone, but Ceese stands up for them and Richard heads to the bedroom.
When Ceese enters, Richard has already packed his things. Ceese tells Richard they can’t just give up, but Richard won’t listen. Bringing up her affections for Rodney, he suggests that she is better off without him, but she denies that she is able to have those feelings saying she wishes she could. She adds that she needs Richard’s help so that she can break this curse and once again, Richard gives into her.
Questions for consideration:
Did you see Henderson’s reasons for wanting Richard and Ceese coming?
Were you surprised that Penny used to be a vampire and the tale of how she became human?
Why do you think the curse was broke n for Penny and not Richard?
