Never Ceese by Sue Dent Chapter 31 by Krystal
Hunting in the English countryside was easy, but the streets of New York were a whole different story. Finding a park, Richard and Ceese shared a meal and then he threw the squirrel down; there wasn’t enough meat to curse anyone unless went around gathering all the animals up.
After Richard and Ceese left, Clayton entered the park knowing exactly what he was looking for. He grabbed the poor animal and added it to a bad before heading off. As Clayton contemplated whether there would be enough stem cells to work with, Josh hurried over with another animal. Henderson was happy both Josh and Kyle had come through for him, but Kyle took a little bit more persuasion than Josh. Philip, Henderson cousin, had supplied files on all the boys and although blackmail wasn’t something Kyle was used it worked perfectly on it.
Henderson’s basement lab was a complete small-scale replica of the larger ones he usually worked in. Of course all the equipment had been donated to the new program, but that didn’t stop Henderson from having it delivered to his house. Looking at one of the animals from the park under a microscope, Henderson revels in the fact that there are enough cells for his research.
After their hunt, Richard determined that Ceese didn’t have enough food and left her with Rodney while he and Cassie went out. This was unsettling to Rodney as he was afraid of getting close to Ceese for fear of Richard draining him dry. As he sat on the futon contemplating this, Ceese exited the bedroom and grabbed an armful of food and headed back toward the bedroom. Curiosity got the best of Rodney and he knocked on the bedroom door and entered to find Ceese stuffing her face. Ceese explains that Richard won’t help he become the wolf and she needs Rodney to help her instead and demands her tell her where the professors house is. When Rodney refuses, Ceese enters his mind and get the information herself.
Cassie and Richard arrived home shortly after Ceese’s exit with arms full of dripping packages. Richard headed to the bedroom before returning to Cassie and pointing out Ceese’s absence. A knock at the door made both Cassie and Richard turn to find Kyle standing there. Richard demands to know where Ceese went, but Kyle says he only came by to apologize to Rodney. Richard doesn’t believe him until Cassie finds Rodney’s note stating that Ceese was headed toward Henderson’s. With this new knowledge, Richard demands Kyle lead them there.
Questions for consideration:
Why do you think Ceese would seek out Henderson after everything that’s happened?
Do you think Ceese planned to have Richard follow her to Henderson’s house?

Never Ceese by Sue Dent Chapter 32 by Krystal
Rodney soon learned that the wolf didn’t need clothes when he found Ceese’s discarded by the dumpster outside, but gathered them up and headed after her anyways. He thought it would be hard to follow her, but apparently this is what Ceese wanted for his new found stamina made it easy to keep up. When he a dark alley he stopped cold in front of five men, but the wolf came to his rescue before it headed off again. A few miles later, they reached a cemetery that lay just beyond Henderson’s property and Ceese ordered Rodney to drop the clothes and go home. When Rodney protested she snarled at him so he decided to leave the clothes and move along, but he would not return to the apartment without her. Taking a less direct route to Henderson’s he tried to stop Ceese, but when he went to the back of the house a slam at the front door informed him he missed her.
As Cassie, Richard and Kyle drove to Henderson’s, a verbally angry Richard expressed his feelings openly about Rodney as Kyle tried to give Cassie directions. Stopping a street over, Richard got out of the car and headed off toward Hendersons.
Rodney was still waiting for reinforcements outside Henderson’s house, but because they choose to park a street over, Rodney was surprised when Richard tackled him in the bushes. Richard tries to blame Rodney, but he explains that Ceese is here to help Richard. Cassie realizes that if Richard goes in and saves Ceese it may just be the one selfless act he needs to be human, hoping no one speaks up to change Richard’s mind she keeps quite. Sadly, Kyle informs that he was the one to tell Ceese that Henderson wanted her blood and Richard decides that this must be what she wants; he won’t go in after her since this is her choice. With that he leaves the others alone staring after him as levitates away.
With Richard gone, Cassie clarifies with Kyle that Henderson wasn’t Richard and Ceese’s stem cells. Kyle replies that Henderson wants them and the curse; finally understanding Cassie gasps in shock. Rodney, on the other hand, doesn’t understand so Cassie uses Dr. Frankenstein as an example of what Henderson would be capable of with cursed blood. Cassie and Rodney try and come up with a plan, but it’s Kyle who steps forward with an idea.

Never Ceese by Sue Dent Chapter 33 by Krystal
Inside Henderson’s house, Ceese was strapped to a table surrounded by wolfbane where Josh looked at her as she whimpered silently. Henderson came over to her and injected a syringe of growth-factor to coax the stem cells into her bloodstream before heading back to a microscope.
Josh stood over Ceese, sympathy for her flowing out of him as he looked at all her restraints. Calling to Henderson, Josh asks if they can loosen her restraints and Henderson wonders who is asking, Ceese or Josh. After considering the request for a moment he allows Josh to loosen them and then heads over to gather some of Ceese’s blood. Disappointed with the lack of stem cells in her blood, Henderson tells Josh he has to help him get Richard. At first Josh agrees, but then changes his mind. Henderson looks around at the wolfsbane and then confronts Ceese about bringing Richard herself. She refuses and so Henderson decides a little shock therapy may change her mind. Slapping Ceese, he demanded she bring him again, but she still refused. When Henderson tried to slap her again Josh stopped him, but only to be attacked by Henderson himself.
Kyle’s big idea had turned out to be pretty simple, storm the back door and pray it was unlocked. A little concerned about the plan Rodney asks for more details and everyone decides this would be much easier if Richard was here.
Josh knew he needed to do something to help Ceese and fast, so he got up and barreled into the professor who threw Josh off and into a nearby wall. Awakening, Josh heard a voice calling out to him; it was Ceese and she needed him. Grabbing a wooden stool, Josh cracked it over Henderson’s back and Ceese pinned him to the ground, ordering Josh to go upstairs.
When Rodney heard the gunshots inside, he rushed to the back door and happily found it unlocked; Cassie and Kyle close on his heels. They searched the house but it seemed to be empty, until they heard muffled footsteps behind what they thought was a closet. All of a sudden Josh came through the door carrying Ceese and stated that Henderson shot her. As Josh handed her to Rodney, Kyle asked about Henderson and Josh replies that he shot him. Kyle heads off to check that Henderson is dead and returns soon after with a happy response. Cassie acknowledged Kyle, but noticed Rodney was staring past her. Turning around she stood face to face with Richard.
Rodney brushes past Cassie and angrily tells Richard that Ceese is dead and her last request was to be buried on holy ground. Rodney asks if Richard can at least do that since it is his fault that Ceese is dead. After Richard left with Ceese, Cassie turned to Rodney in question as to how Ceese could be dead now and realizes that Rodney had lied to Richard on Ceese’s orders. Josh suggests that Ceese did it to make him remember who he was, Ceese’s brother. Cassie eyes grew widen as she remembers a conversation Penny had with her a week before her death and about Richard remembering something that would save both him and Ceese. Now certain that they must tell Richard about his heritage, they head off toward the graveyard.
While Kyle had checked on Henderson, they hadn’t taken into consideration the stem cells he’d injected into himself the day before. The blood had already gone to work repairing the gunshot wound and it wasn’t long before he was standing and listening to the Cassie’s conversation. Henderson marveled at his new found strength, he had the immortality he sought, not he had to make sure he kept it and that meant taking care of Cassie and the others.
Questions for consideration:
Were you surprised Richard came back for Ceese or happy?
Did you have any idea or suspicion that Ceese and Richard were related?
Did you believe Henderson was dead or did you have a feeling he’d be back?
