Never Ceese by Sue Dent
Chapter 9 by Krystal

At breakfast the next day, Ceese shows up and says she didn’t sleep at all, but stayed up all night fidgeting with Richard’s computer. When she says that she likes the voice that says ‘You’ve got mail’, Richard runs to the parlor, worried about his shipments only to find it working and the mouse put back together.

Ceese announces that she takes responsibility for what she destroys or burnS and stayed up all night repairing the mouse and rug. When Mama sees the mess of the rest of the room she angrily accuses Richard, but Ceese says it was the wolf. Richard says he’ll take care of it, but Mama says she needs to tell him something and heads to her room. Richard looks at Ceese, asking what she knows. She won’t tell him and suggests that he goes and talks to Penny.

Questions for consideration:

Why do you think Ceese bothered to fix Richard’s stuff? Do you think it was as simple as responsibility?

What do you think Mama has to tell Richard?

Do you think Ceese knows something about Mama that Richard doesn’t?

Is there something you noticed in this chapter that you'd like to discuss with the book club?

What is your favorite quote from this chapter?

I think it's a little of her taking responsibility, but also a little about her relationship with Richard... even if it's so small scale they don't recognize it.

What do you think Mama has to tell Richard?
I don't know, but I sure bet it's important

Do you think Ceese knows something about Mama that Richard doesn’t?
Ceese and Penny seem really close and with Ceese's ability to read minds I wouldn't doubt that she's got one up on Richard..

Is there something you noticed in this chapter that you'd like to discuss with the book club?
I think it's funny how Ceese knows nothing about technology, but she manages to fix Richard's mouse to the point it works. Hell I can't fix my mouse when it breaks.

What is your favorite quote from this chapter?
I always wait for Sue's cause they are so much better than mine.

I think she is trying to prove to him that in spite of being what they are, they can still be civil.

What do you think Mama has to tell Richard?
I wonder. LOL

Do you think Ceese knows something about Mama that Richard doesn’t?
I like the way she pretended she did. Ha! on Richard.

Is there something you noticed in this chapter that you'd like to discuss with the book club? I like the way that though things are new to Ceese, she seems to pick up on them quickly. Sometimes knowing less means learning faster about something.

What is your favorite quote from this chapter?

Okay, so let's see . . . quote . . . hmmmm

Ceese to Richard-

" . . . and I will take care of any damage I caused!"

Richard did a quick scan of the rest of the carnage. Tables were broken, lamps shattered, chair cushions ripped and torn. And then he studied the computer's mouse. "I'm quite certain I don't have that much tape."

Yup that's one of my favorite. It reminds me of the movie Madagascar 2 which has been on lately. The penguins are like... we can fix it (the entire plane) with duct tape.

Despite trying hard not to care, she does care what Richard thinks. She feels bad for breaking his stuff and she's trying to make amends.

What do you think Mama has to tell Richard?
I had a feeling something bad was coming because of her weakness and needing to rest a lot.

Do you think Ceese knows something about Mama that Richard doesn’t?
If she can make Mama stronger, I wondered if she could also feel how sick she really is.
