I'd like to preface my review by saying that although I liked Twilight, it was disjointed, had cheesy dialogue and the soundtrack didn't work in some places. In fact, the soundtrack distracted me a few times from the actual movie because it was so annoying. And I feel the acting wasn't very good.

On to New Moon....

What worked:

CGI - jeez, Chris kicked ass in this area. I was thrilled with the CGI and how realistic it all looked put together. Edward dissolving in smoke was cool. And the wolves were awesome!

Dialogue - OME, I bow to Chris for not letting anyone fuck with the script. For the most part I really enjoyed the dialogue.

Acting - Wow! Rob has grown so much. I was impressed. Kristen - meh, blah - but not as bad as in Twilight though.

The flow - the movie just flowed from one scene to the next. It was seamless.

The soundtrack and score - LOVE the score. I'm not too keen on the soundtrack but it fit well in each scene. It didn't distract or take away from the movie in any way.

Make-up - Smoochies to the make-up people. They did a fabulous job. It didn't look caked on or fake.

The Volturi - they were scary, super freaky! I can't wait for more of them in the next movie.

Alice - she looked more like I pictured her in my head. She's so adorable!

What didn't work IMO:

Jasper's wig - Shit, it was horrible in Twilight. It improved a bit in NM, but not much. And that look of constipation, ewww.

Edward's lipstick - his make-up was flawless except a few times his lipstick was too dark, way darker than Kristen's. lol. For some reason, that bugged the shit out of me.

Not enough Charlie, not enough Cullens - I was left wanting more Cullens and more Charlie. I know they weren't in the book much either, but I would have liked a bit more of all of them.  Jasper and Emmett had maybe two lines, which is just sad. They all bring such personality to their characters and I felt cheated that there was so little of them in the movie.

Over all, I really liked it, much better than Twilight (which I didn't really dislike). Chris is a miracle worker. I hope they have him back for BD if at all possible. I think he owned this movie - I cannot wait to see the making of and deleted scenes. I think he challenged the actors, the crew, everyone to do better and they did.

Okay I have to admit... I missed Charlie and the Cullens too... especially Charlie.

There was like a 5 second shot in the movie where he was drinking his Vitamin R... I wanted more of that. Those drinks were in Twilight so it was cool to see them in the movie again... especially since they were in Canada and not Portland this time. They must have imported it LOL.

I have to say also, I missed the Cullens :(

Like I said for Twilight, Emmett is such a funny character in the books, and while im glad that atlest in NM they showed a bit, of his funny side, unlike Twilight, I still would have liked more of him!

I also missed the Cullens.  I really would have liked to have seen the reunion at the airport.  I really hope that they do Breaking Dawn because I cannot wait to see Emmett unleashed in that installment with all of his jokes and innuendos!
