Percy Jackson and The Olympians: The Lightning Thief
Chapter Summaries
By Rose

Chapter 22 – The Prophecy Comes True

Percy, Annabeth and Grover we treated to a warm welcome back at Half-Blood Hill and there was a big feast in their honor, for they were now heroes.

After week after Percy arrived back at the camp, his mother told him Gabe had left mysteriously and probably would never return. She wrote him a note she had found a boarding school in the city and he could move back with her if he chose.

During Fourth of July Grover said his goodbyes to his friends, although he could not say where he was going.

At the end of summer, Percy was still unsure about the prophecy and what the Oracle stated. He still hadn’t made up his mind about where to live. One day while training, he noticed Luke’s sword was odd. Luke tells him it can work on mortal and immortals alike. Luke invites Percy to a chat when he informs Percy he is leaving. With some magic a pit appears.  Percy realizes it is Luke who betrayed him and in fact he serves Kronos. After explaining all his bad deeds to Percy, the scorpions descend on Percy and attack and Percy falls unconscious. He is awoken by Annabeth and Argus, and was healed by Chiron. Percy wants vengeance but Argus tells him to hold back.

Annabeth has decided to go back and live with her family and for now, so does Percy.

Favorite Quotes:

Argus: “How do you feel?”

Percy
: “Like my insides have be frozen, then microwaved.”

I have to say I loved the way this book ended. Even the last line, with Percy promising to be back next summer and telling Poseidon "After all, I am your son" had quite an epic feel, I think.

I liked how it ended. The ending closed the door on one adventure while at the same time opened another for a new adventure.
