"For you I bleed myself dry"

OBS member Firebrand bought us the lastest episode of "Supernaturals" R&R

Hey all! These last few weeks have been a busy whirlwind of disaster and insanity. I'm sorry it's been so long and I don't intend for it to happen again.

Season 5, Episode 6 "I Believe The Children Are Our Future"

This episode opens with a young woman, Amber, alone in a living room in Alliance, Nebraska. There is a thud from somewhere behind her and she turns away from the movie she's watching to investigate. She sources out that the sound came from the closet and when she opens it the body of her charge, a precocious young boy, is inside. But he's not dead, merely playing a practical joke. He was supposed to be in bed and she's a little upset. He tries to bargain with her about him going to sleep but she just sends him back upstairs. She settles down in front of the movie and before she gets involved she hears a dog outside, nearby, going crazy. The last we see, she's peering out the windows. The boy's parents come home and the father attempts to wake her up. She appears to be in a deep sleep but after a couple of moments, she is pushed over and it is discovered that her head has experienced severe trauma.

The next scene gives us Dean and Sam, playing the role of Federal Agents. They are investigating the apparent attack of Amber, which led to her death. The coroner asks them why they never read the report he emailed that morning. "Server issues" Sam mumbles. The medical examiner explains that he found a press-on nail in the temporal lobe.... It appears that she did it to herself. She clawed into her own skull. The brothers can't believe she did something that would take hours and cause so much pain. It's something they have never seen, in all the weirdness of their lives.

Sam and Dean head to the house of the people she was babysitting. They want to assume something in the house made Amber do this, some sort of ghost illness maybe. The young boy, Jimmy, is watching the whole proceedings with a guilty conscience. Dean questions him quietly. It becomes apparent that he knows more than he's letting on. After threatening to take him "downtown" Dean discovers the secret. Itching powder. Jimmy sprinkled itching powder on Amber's brush. Sam is resistant to the new theory. Itching powder isn't a good explanation. It's just powdered seeds... not a weapon. They both seem puzzled a bit and a call comes in. Something else has happened.

A man has been electrocuted in a seniors home across town. The body is being taken away and the only witness seems to be a little confused. "Senile". When Sam and Dean approach him they can't quite figure it out. He's mumbling about not thinking it would work, it was just a joke. "What was a joke?" Dean asks. The old man turns his hand over and they see a joy buzzer in his hand.

The next scene has Dean strapping on safety goggles, pulling on some rubber gloves and preparing to test this joy buzzer. Sam stands farther back and Dean presses the buzzer into a hock of pork (which CSI has taught us is the most like human flesh) and it electrifies the meat. "What the hell? It isn't supposed to do that?" Both brothers are baffled. It must be cursed objects then. Both the itching powder and joy buzzer came from the same place so it must be where it's coming from... logically speaking.

They head to the magic shop, Dean indulges his 8 year old self and buys a whoopie cushion, and talk to the owner. He's sold only 1 buzzer, 1 packet of itching powder and is a little bitter that the youth of today care more about phones and "kissing vampire movies". Dean leads the man in a conversation, hoping to illicit a confession, finally flourishing the buzzer and slamming it into a rubber chicken on the desk... melting it. And terrifying the shopkeeper as well. Something says he may not be the guy they are looking for.

A little girl in town has lost a tooth and her dad is trying to explain that if you put the tooth under your pillow, the tooth fairy comes along and swaps it for a quarter. (what's a quarter really going to buy you these days?) Her response is "So some freak is going to come into my room while I'm sleeping and take my tooth? Sounds scary. No thank you" (I giggled, yea. Giggled) and the father tucks her in. A short time later she wanders into her dads room and places her tooth under his pillow. The man is awoken by a hairy man in a tutu with wings telling him he "may feel a pinch". Shown in shadow, we see the tooth fairy pull out one of the man's tooth.

At the hospital, the man still alive.... and short 32 teeth. Granted he was left 32 quarters but still. Sam and Dean get a description and are weirded out that it was the tooth fairy (?!) Dean also discovered that up in the children's ward there are kids who mixed pop rocks and coke and ended up with stomach ulcers. Another guy "his face froze that way" and now requires plastic surgery. It's a weird case for the two of them. Dean figures that maybe the fact that everything is a lie that kids believe might be the connection. Sam is willing to go along that vein but for something to reshape the world to their own view.. they have to be a God or a trickster. Dean smirks, "and have the sense of humor of a 9 year old" Sam sighs... "or you" he responds.

Back at the hotel we see Dean digging into a huge ham sandwich. Sam comes in and is incredulous. "Dude, seriously. Still with the ham?" Dean just scoffs "We don't have a fridge!" Sam dismisses it and shows Dean what he's found. All the incidences of accidental death or attack occurred within a 2 mile radius. The center of the area is just farmland. Well, farmland with a house in the center, sitting alone. Dean meekly inquires if their motel is within the 'cursed circle' and it turns out it is... "Why" sam asks. Dean holds up his hand and it's umm.. furry. Sam is appalled... "That's not what I think it is?" Dean just grins "I got bored... and the nurse was hot." So typical Dean.

After some quick grooming Sam and Dean head out to check out the house. In this house is an young boy, Jesse. Dean and Sam want to speak to him about what going on and they discover that everything, the electrocuting joy buzzer, the itching powder that makes you "scratch your brains out" and such were actually all old wives tales that the boy believed in. To prove the point, Dean explains that the joy buzzer is a lame toy, ět dozen`t even have a battery. So he waits a second and after he's convinced the boy's perception of the joy buzzer has changed, he sticks it to Sam's chest. And nothing gets cooked.

The guys now understand what's going on but are at a loss for how he gained this power. Sam goes into research mode. He discovers that Jesse is a normal kid and that years ago he was adopted. His mother still lives in Nebraska, on the other side of the state and thead over to see her. She's a recluse, barricaded in her house. When Sam and Dean begin to question her about Jesse's birth she panics and runs. They follow and as they turn a corner she flings salt at them. "You're not demons?" and Sam and Dean know that this woman knows more than they thought. Her name is Julia and she was possessed years ago. She murdered and destroyed... and for nine months it went on. The night Jesse was born the pain of the birth gave Julia the power to fight off the demon possessing her body. She wanted to hate her child but instead she gave him away. And tried to carry on with her life. She was a virgin at the time of conception and being that the child is of demon and human birth.. well, it can't be a good thing.

The Winchester boys head back to the hotel room in Alliance to regroup. They call Castiel and seek guidance. He arrives at their room and tells them that Jesse is an important find. And that he must be killed. He's half human and half demon but much more powerful than anything. Other cultures have different names but Sam and Dean would recognize "Antichrist". He takes a seat (on Dean's whoopie cushion) and proceeds to explain to them that the Antichrist is demon's spawn (not necessarily Lucifer's child) and that Jesse will be one of Lucifer's greatest weapons against Heaven. Now that Lucifer has risen (Thanks again, Sam!) the Antichrist will see his power magnify exponentially. For years the power Jesse possessed has kept him hidden from Angels and Demons alike. But now, it's drawing everyone to him. It's just a matter of time before the Demons come for him, to shape him into a masterpiece. Castiel wants to have him killed now, before that can happen. All it will take is a word for Jesse to destroy Heaven, and all the Angels within. Sam stands up against Castiel. They are good guys... they do not KILL children. Dean proposes they take Jesse to Bobby and hide him, keep him from turning. Castiel counters, the Antichrist can't be contained. Sam is determined to find a better option. What if they talk to Jesse, tell him the truth? Maybe he's choose the right path? Castiel faces Sam "You didn't!" and then disappears.

Julia has decided to leave the safety of her home, perhaps to come see Jesse or talk to Sam and Dean. As she turns to leave from locking the door she finds a delivery man on the porch and it startles her... it's been a hard day she explains. "Well talking to the Winchesters will do that" and we discover that the delivery man is actually a demon.. the Demon that had possessed her those years ago. He's upset and now that Julia has found out where her son is, the Demons have decided it's time to use her and go see their son.

Back at Jesse's house, it's late. He is up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water. He rounds a corner and is confronted with Castiel. He calls out for his parents but Castiel tells them they are sleeping and he's made sure they will not wake until morning. He apologizes to Jesse and prepares to stab the boy. It's a difficult task. The camera cuts away and Dean busts in the door. They figured what Cas was about to do and are hoping to stop him before he succeeds. All they find is Jesse."Was there a guy here? In a trenchcoat?" Dean ask breathlessly. Jesse looks towards the ground and the camera pans down. On the floor is a little Castiel action figure in a trenchcoat with a toy knife in his hand. Wow, the kid is powerful.

Sam and Dean believe that Jesse just needs to be taught. Dean tries to explain to Jesse that he's a superhero.... and starts to tell him about a secret base, being trained to fight evil. Even likening Bobby to Professor X (He is in a wheelchair so I'll allow it). Just when it seems that they may have won Jesse over Dean is flung into the wall. In walks Julia, or at least a Demon wearing Julia. She pins Sam against the wall (can't do more than that, "Orders" she says) but Dean is open season. She starts talking to Jesse about all the lies he's been told in his time... all the stories people have made him believe. It's because they don't love him. Jesse is confused (he is just a child after all) and not sure what to do. he Demon continues to badger Jesse, telling him that the world is lies and that he can create a world of perfection... the house begins to shake. The whole situation is upsetting Jesse.
Sam decides to use the truth as a tool. He breaks free of Julia's grip. She becomes infuriated with him but before the Demon inside can react Jesse tells her to sit down and shut up. His power is so strong that the Demon has no choice.... Sam tells him that yes, Jesse is half Demon. It's true. But he's also half Human. And he's a major player in the war between Angels and Demons. Jesse just accepts it... But he looks lost. "I'm just a boy?" Jesse says. But Sam wants him to just think and feel. He wants Jesse to make the right choice, Sam wants to believe that Jesse can make the right choice... that SOMEONE can make the Right choice. Maybe it's clear how Sam feels or Jesse can see that Sam is struggling but he makes his choice. "Get out of her". Jesse commands it and the Demon is forced out of Julia, dissipating up the chimney.

The next scene has Dean, asking whether Castiel can be changed back.... "He's sort of a buddy of mine" but Jesse resists. After all, Castiel did try to kill the boy. Dean backs off, not sure what will truly upset him. Conversation switches to what Jesse has to do now. Dean tells him he'll be trained up, become a soldier. But Jesse doesn't want to do that... Sam steps in and tells him that it's a tough choice and something that hurts but that he is the most powerful person they've ever seen. But Jesse can't stay in Nebraska.. and he's willing to leave. But not without his parents. The Brothers understand, family is paramount, but they explain to him that danger is sort of part of his life now and it will be dangerous for them too. Jesse, seemingly wise beyond his years, understands. He goes upstairs to say goodbye to his folks. It's a moment he will cherish and then heads into his room. He stares at a poster on the wall, a surfer in Australia, and then the scene changes. Dean and Sam hurry upstairs, Jesse's been up there a long time, and find the room empty. Castiel comes around the corner. Wherever Jesse went, he fixed all the people in town before he left. Castiel included. There's a not on the bed, saying that he's leaving to keep his family safe, that he loves them and that he's sorry. With the level of power Jesse possesses he will be impossible to find, unless he wants to be found.

The last scene is Dean and Sam, driving out int he Impala... Dean wishes that their dad had lied to them more. The truth sometimes screws up more than it solves. Sam agrees with him. It would have been so much easier to live their life if their dad had just hidden the truth. But he didn't and it made each of the brothers into what they are.

***I personally thing Jesse will come back, he will emerge again, maybe in the last couple episodes.... ***
