The Lovely Bones Book Club Chapter 11
by Katie

Jack woke up early to take a morning jog. He past by Mr. Harvey's house hoping it would reveal some answers. He didn't understand why Abigail trusted the police so much and why she wouldn't trust him.

Susie knew everything about Mr. Harvey's house. Like how many rooms it had and what they looked like. She even knew what the garage looked like. She knew his patterns, how he would set alarms to tell him when to do certain things, or how he would pull out his trinkets from past troubles and count them.

Susie had learned that Mr. Harvey was responsible for killing all of the animals that had went missing in the neighborhood and how killing animals was his way of not paying attention to the school and how he wanted to kill a child. But that didn't always stop him.

Len came over to the Salmon house to discuss Jacks obsession over Mr. Harvey. He told Jack that he had to stop going by his house and calling the station. There was no proof that Mr. Harvey took Susie. Lindsey was listening to them talk and couldn't believe the police where giving up.

That night Jack couldn't sleep, all he could think about was how no one believed him. Mr. Harvey had taken his little girl and there was nothing he could do. While he was writing in his journal, a flashlight was shining in the field across the street. Jack grabbed Lindsey’s baseball bat and ran for the door. He silently crept onto the field, but instead of finding Mr. Harvey, he ran into Clarissa. Clarissa screamed which sent Brian running, he through a few punches that sent Jack flying to the ground. Jack got up and started running, never looking back.

I think that is exactly why she doesn't believe Jack.

Do you think Lindsey is assuming the mother role in the house?
Not completely...she is growing up faster though because of the situation she's in.

Why do you think Jack called Clarissa by Susie’s name when he ran into her?
He just misses his daughter more than anyone can imagine.
