Vampire Diaries: Chapter 3 Written by Rose Edited by Krystal
With Bonnie’s trance now over, the girls discuss Elena’s revelation about Wickery Bridge. Bonnie doesn’t seem to remember this, but does remember her need for something that she can’t describe. Elena tries to remind Bonnie of what she said in the mysterious voice that belonged to neither Bonnie nor Stefan. Meredith corrects Elena and says that the voice specifically said Elena was not to visit the bridge, but Elena says she’s going anyways. Meredith says that they are all going, but Elena worries about the dangers that await them. In order to not wake Robert, asleep downstairs, the girls climb through Elena’s bedroom window and down the nearby tree. Thinking ahead, Elena realized the creeks current was treacherous and grabs a rope from the garage.
While the threesome drive through town, Elena recalls the tree leaves blowing all around her in the cemetery, especially the oak trees. Curious, Elena asks Bonnie of any significance that they may hold. Bonnie explains that all trees are sacred to the druids, but oaks in particular brought them power. Upon arriving at the bridge, Elena gives the oaks an uneasy glance, but nothing stirred. She turns toward the others and tells them to watch for a crow; the same crow that was present when Bonnie’s dog Yangtze was killed. Elena looks around as she recalls the last time they crossed this bridge and Bonnie hasn’t forgotten either. As Elena searches the dark and cold banks of Drowning Creek an unsettling feeling crawls over her as if something was wrong. She called for Stefan, silently, afraid of what might answer back. Coincidentally at the same moment, Bonnie mentions that the entire search is wrong; Stefan was alone in a dark silent place, not this wild current.
Elena insists on searching just in case and Meredith suggests they check the other side. The girls crawl through the vegetation and suddenly stop dead in their tracks. A dark figure silhouetted against the car headlights gave Elena a terrible feeling, as if it was moving toward them. The girls hide in fear of the strange figure as footsteps fall on the bridge above them. As Elena contemplates the idea of giving herself up for the other, Matt appears before them. Questioned why he was out there, Matt explains that he was following them from the beginning. Elena apologizes for everything she has done to Matt over the last couple of week, but he ignores it and demands to know why they are out here. Bonnie explains her visions regarding Stefan to Matt, how it was dark and cold and how it felt like a tomb. Despite not believing Bonnie’s vision, Matt suggests that Stefan could be trapped in one of the abandoned wells located on the farmhouses in the immediate area. Elena remarks that Stefan’s car was found down the road and Matt recalls the old Francher place and its well.
The group split up, taking both cars, and head toward the Francher farm, but have to head on foot once the road gives out. The Francher residence, was old and worn down and Matt tells them that the well would be around back. Bonnie found it first and everyone gathered as they notice the stone lid had been moved recently. Removing the lid, Elena calls down into the well and after a moment a voice calls back to them. Ecstatic, Elena calls back to Stefan and tells him to hang tight as they lower the rope. Once at the surface, Matt notices Stefan’s obvious frail condition and suggests they take him to a clinic immediately. With all the strength Stefan had left, he adamantly refuses to be taken to any doctors. Elena promises him as he passes out unconscious in her arms.

Memorable Quotes
Meredith: “She told you not to go near the bridge,” Meredith corrected. “You in particular, Elena. She said Death was waiting.” (Page 281-282)
Bonnie: “Are you kidding?” Bonnie said, sticking her chin out. “We love danger. I want to be young and beautiful in my grave remember?” (Page 282)
Elena: “Bonnie thought Stefan might be here.” Bonnie: “Bonnie did not,” said Bonnie. “Bonnie said right away that it was the wrong place. We’re looking for somewhere quiet, no noises, and closed in. I felt... surrounded,” she explained to Matt. (Page 289)
Questions for consideration:
Do you think that the oak leaves have more significance than just what the druid’s believe? What do you think they mean?
Druids were known to love trees and visit the wood to hold ceremonies and commune with nature; could it be possible someone lurking in the woods is of druid descent?
Why do you think Damon chose an abandoned well to hide Stefan? Why not hide him somewhere farther away?

Vampire Diaries: Chapter 4 Written by Rose Edited by Krystal
Despite Elena’s promise to Stefan, Bonnie is adamant about taking him to the doctors. Elena says she can’t explain, but she can’t take him to the doctors. The four work together to get Stefan through the woods and back to Matt’s car. When they arrive at the boarding house, Elena sees a figure in the window above and assuming it to be Mrs. Flowers, calls out to her. Meanwhile, Bonnie finds the door unlocked and they carry Stefan inside. Bothered by Mrs. Flowers reaction to their arrival, Elena looks back up to find an empty window. Unable to think about what had occurred, Elena directs everyone through the secret passages to Stefan’s chaotic room. Matt curiously asks what happened, but Elena cleverly lies and tells the others they need to get Stefan warm.
While redressing Stefan, Elena notices the cut on his neck from the evening before. She had forgotten their sharing of blood; no wonder he had been so weak. Unable to stand it any longer, Matt starts up again about Stefan needing a doctor. Elena lies that Stefan never liked doctors, which was possibly the truth. She knows she can’t examine Stefan with everyone else in the room, but thinks about the possibility of telling her friends the truth; saving his life was the most important thing at the moment. Deciding she can’t risk their reaction and the possibility that they may then believe him capable of Mr. Tanner’s murder, Elena opts to keep it a secret; it was one thing she couldn’t share with them.
Elena composed herself; something had to be done though, but what. An idea came to her; a nurse might be able to help and turned to Bonnie asking about her sister, Mary. Bonnie says that Mary might be home from her late shift and Elena sends Bonnie, Meredith and Matt to go retrieve her, agreeing that if Mary felt Stefan needed a doctor they would go to one. This left Elena alone with Stefan; perfect for what she needed.
Pulling back the towel around Stefan’s neck, she found huge tears across his neck. She immediately felt an immense hatred for Damon. It was unlike anything she ever felt before; if she had a stake at hand she could kill him right now.
Looking around the room, Elena spies some shards of glass on the floor and picks one up. She cut her finger and put it to Stefan’s lips, waiting for a response. As he started to show signs of life, she waited for him to take her blood in. He tried to tell her to stop, but Elena refused to listen.
She explained that the others had left, but they would return soon with a nurse. Stefan was still stubborn, he already took too much the night before and it was too dangerous for her. Elena refused to listen and forced him to continue. After some time of feeding, Stefan explains that she must stop or she could change. Furthermore, if she didn’t move away, he’d have no control. As they lean toward each other, Stefan laughs at how disheveled Elena was. Looking down at herself, Elena notices just how bad she really was; Elena Gilbert fashion queen of Robert E. Lee was caked in red mud and she couldn’t help but laugh.
Just then the others entered the room, commenting on how better Stefan looked. Mary entered behind them and immediately approached Stefan. Stefan lies saying he had a childhood phobia of doctors, which quells Mary’s questions regarding his disdain for them. Mary agreed that Stefan’s pulse was fine, but wanted to take a temperature first. Knowing this could not be done; Elena quickly grabs the thermometer and naively drops it as she does so. She apologizes as Stefan remarks he is feeling better, but Mary notices the room and questions what took place. Stefan jokingly blames the mess on his housekeeper and Mary gives up the fight. Unable to make Stefan go to the clinic, Mary suggest he get checked out in the morning and he thanks her kindly. Bonnie notices Elena’s pale complexion and suggests that she may need a check up too, but Elena writes it off as being tired; did she look that bad?
After everyone finally left, Stefan tells Elena that she was right about Damon being in Fell’s Church. She agrees, but doesn’t tell Stefan of her search for Damon in the cemetery the day before. He tells Elena to thank the others and she meets the others downstairs. Outside, Matt offers to drive Mary home so that Bonnie and Meredith could go back with Elena. After he leaves, Elena remembers Stefan’s thanks and gives it to the two girls. Bonnie laughs suddenly, remembering the prophecy earlier that evening. They had gone to Wickery Bridge, but Death was not there; did they mistake the words? As they girls jokingly argue, Elena thinks that maybe it wasn’t the wrong bridge, just the wrong time.
